Galleri Flach presents a series of new works by Fredrik Wretman, focusing on his most recent production of bronze sculptures, figures that contain both historical and contemporary references. His depiction of archetypal figures and sculptures recalls antiquity as well as later periods in art history, conveying a link between past, present and future. They balance, they fly, they play and comment on the spirit of the age in their very own way through expressions that are full of meaning: humorous, poignant and contemplative.

A central theme in Wretman’s artistry is the spatiality that his work creates, regardless of whether it occurs on a large or small scale. In each sculpture and installation, a universe of its own emerges. His artistry is like entering an anecdotal architecture where the individual parts are both their own narratives and together create a large and concentrated whole.

Fredrik Wretman is born in 1953, lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden and Chiang Mai, Thailand. He has exhibited nationally and internationally since he graduated from the Royal Institute of Arts in Stockholm in 1985. His works are represented in museums, art galleries and public places around Sweden and internationally.
